"Lucy wake up," Reluctantly Lucy opened her eyes. She gazed into Ike's brown eyes and smiled. "Hey." Lucy replied in a low whisper.
"Hey, you have to fasten your seatbelt now, they just announced we are landing." He said.
"Oh all right," Lucy snickered as she realizing she fell asleep for the plane ride.
The aircraft came to an abrupt stop. Lucy didn't feel very comfortable at all. She had only flown once before and it made her sick to her stomach with all the bumping up and down the plane was doing. She glanced over at Ike then at Taylor. They both seemed abnormally calm. Ike had his eyes closed and was holding Lucy's left hand gently. When she glanced over towards Taylor and Zac she became very amused. Zac was very restless and refused to calm down. Taylor tried unsuccessfully to calm him down by shoving magazines in his face. Zac looked very insulted by this and threw it back in Taylor's direction but instead of hitting Taylor as he intended to, the magazine cam flying towards Lucy. The People Magazine landed right into Lucy's lap and caused her to jump.
"ZAC!" Lucy screamed. Ike quickly opened his eyes and glared at Taylor and Zac.
"Oh, Lucy I'm sorry I didn't mean to I was aiming for Taylor." Taylor instantly kicked Zac's ankle. Zac let out a low moan and slumped back into his seat. Lucy wished they would let them off the plane already. Ike started talking to Jason who sat on the other side of Ike by the window about where they would be staying.
Lucy heard the familiar crackle of the overheard intercom.
"Thank you for flying Delta airlines I hope you had an enjoyable flight you may begin to leave the plane now." There was a few seconds more of crackling noises, but Lucy didn't think twice to listen to them. The second the man said she could leave she stood up impatiently waiting for the others. Zac eyed Lucy and gave her a strange look. "Hey Lucy, you have to pee or something?" Lucy shot a look at Zac that made Zac squirm
"No, Zakky poo, I just hate being on planes." Lucy replied with a threatening tone. Zac seemed to get the idea and shut his mouth. Ike grabbed his book bag he had brought on with him and they made their way off the plane. Lucy quicken her pace till she had reached the inside of the airport. She looked behind her and realized no one she knew was insight. She sat by a nearby bench and waited for them a bit more relived.
"Hey where did Lucy go?" Ike asked. Everyone looked around not seeing her anywhere.
"I'll find her, she's probably waiting for us down by the gates or something!" Zac yelled. He ran through the crowds of people ahead of him till he saw Lucy sitting alone. Lucy saw Zac running towards her and she gave a polite smile.
"Hey! How'd you get here so fast?" He asked as he caught his breath. "Oh I couldn't stand it being on that plane anymore so I just ran here. Look, here comes everyone else." Lucy pointed near Gate L7. As soon as the boys started walking together girls started to gather out of no where. Some would point and wave others just make silent whispers. The boys smiled and just waved back. None of them bothered to follow though. Mr. And Mrs. Hanson met up with Lucy and the boys at the baggage area. Mrs. Hanson seemed to have her hands full with Mackie, and Lucy thought it would be a sweet gesture if she took him off her hands.
"Hey, um Diana? I can hold Mackie a little while if that's ok?" Mackie's eyes lit up and he started to clap his hands. Diana thankfully smiled and handed him over to her. "Thanks dear, how many bags did you have?" Lucy balanced Mackie on her right side and tried to remember. "I'm pretty sure just two. Oh there they come there."
Ike noticed Lucy pointed towards to slightly big suitcases and grabbed them. Avery and Jessica were running around everybody causing everyone to be edgy. Avery wasn't paying any attention and ran right into Taylor's legs. Taylor a bit confused and upset that he nearly dropped all the bags he managed to carry.
"Hey! Avery! Stop, and calm down for a while." Taylor scolded. "Sorry Tay, I didn't mean to." Avery looked down onto the floor and ran over to Lucy and Mackie.
Eventually everyone's bags were in another rental van and Everyone else crammed into a similar but blue van. They pulled into the parking lot for the Junipter Hill Inn. Lucy glanced around happily breathing in the salty Maine air. They weren't too far from the coast at all. Many bellhops came out to help unload the truck and Mr. Hanson, Ike, Taylor, an Zac stayed to help them as well. The others went in to get their keys to the rooms. Mrs. Hanson had told everyone what room they would be staying in and with whom when she handed them their keys. Herself , Mr. Hanson, and Mackie were staying in room 330 with an adjoining room, 332, that would be Jessica's and Avery's. She handed Lucy two keys.
"Lucy, your staying in room 334 with Zac and the other key is Ike and Tay's. Their room is connected to yours its 336 ok? Stay here and hand them their key when they start bringing the bags up." Lucy smiled and nodded. Lucy saw the guys trying to get into the glass entrance doors and hurried to open them since their hands were momentarily full. The first 3 people were bellhops followed by Mr. Hanson. They made their way to the elevators and disappeared. Lucy walked out to see the boys trying to get all the suitcases in one trip. Lucy shook her head and offered a hand.
"Hey it looks like you guys could use some help?" They all nodded eagerly. Ike looked like he was gonna break his back with all the shoulder straps he hand there. Lucy took some off and threw them onto her shoulders, and handed him their key.
"Hey you're rooming with Tay, and Zac's with me." Ike looked disappointed, and Taylor didn't even seem to care, but Zac was incredibly thrilled with the thought of rooming with a girl.
"This is great!!!!" Zac screamed and ran to the elevator and waited for the others before the elevator door closed. Lucy hit Button C. The ride was brief and they walked out onto the floor marked C. They walked along the corridor and followed the numbers. When they came around the corner they saw a familiar face.
"Hey Jason!!" Zac greeted. "Hey Zac, what room are ya?" Zac quickly looked at Lucy. "Room 334 he's sharing it with me." Lucy answered for him. Jason looked amused. "So when did the rooms get co-ed?"
"Hey if Mom would let me share a room with her I would!" Ike announced. Lucy shook her head and dropped some her bags to open the door marked 334. She walked in and breathed in the dry air and dropped herself onto the closest bed. Zac came in dragging about 5 bags on the floor. Lucy smiled. She soon got up and started unpacking her clothes. She walked into the bathroom to put her little handbag and make-up on the counter and she nearly dropped her mouth. She shared a bathroom with the adjoining room. It was too huge to only be her's and Zac's. Just as she was putting her things onto one of the two sinks that lived in there, the door on the left side of the bathroom opened. In came Taylor wide eyed.
"Hey, what are you doing in our bathroom?" He asked raising his eyebrow.
"Your bathroom? I don't think so! It's all of ours." Taylor shrugged and Ike walked in. Ike had the same expression as them both and Zac came waltzing in and didn't even seem to care. He started piling his things on the other sink's counter.
"Jeeze Zac how much crap do you have?" Taylor asked.
"Loads more pal!" Zac said in a funny voice. Zac threw the rest of the stuff in his hands onto the counter and ran back into the room. Lucy started organizing her make up so they wouldn't take up much room. She saw Taylor walk back into his room and close the door. Lucy smiled when she felt a familiar arm around her back. She felt Ike breathe close to her neck.
"Hey Lucy, I think we are alone for the first time in a while." He whispered softly
"Hmmm, I think you are right." Lucy slowly turned around and threw her arms around Ike's neck. She gazed into his brown eyes. Suddenly Lucy remembered this similiar situation happening with Taylor. She turned her head away from his gaze.
"Hold me please." Lucy pleaded. Ike didn't need any encouragement and he wrapped his arms protectivly around her.
Taylor closed the door and felt the lump in his throat grow. He couldn't help but like Lucy. She smiled so easily and laughed at almost anything he said. Taylor walked over the piles of clothes that had already made a mess on the floor and fell into the seat by the glass doors. He glanced outside trying to think of something else, but he was unsuccessful. 'I have to find some one new that would make me forget her.'
When the guys and Lucy were done unpacking, Mr. And Mrs. Hanson asked them if they wanted to go to the beach to relax for a while. They all agreed and when they were ready they piled into two rental cars (Mr. Hanson drove one and Ike drove the other) and headed to the beach.
When they got there, they got out and got settled. Zac immediately ran for the water and began wading in. "Hey, slowpokes!" he shouted to Lucy, Ike and Tay, "Come on! The water's great!" With that, he dove into a wave and came up laughing. Tay ran into the water after him, but Lucy and Ike hung back for a moment.
"I'm glad you got to come with us." Ike told Lucy as he pulled her close and wrapped his arms around her waist.
She looked up at him and smiled. "Me, too." she whispered before she leaned up to kiss him. They stood there for a long moment, just holding each other before Lucy broke away and headed for the water with Ike not far behind. "Hey, where do you think you're going?" Ike said to Lucy. Then he did something Lucy didn't expect. He picked her up and carried her into the water. Laughing, she put her arms around his neck and held on tight. When the waves got really strong, he put her down and they went over to Tay and Zac, who were busy dunking each other mercilessly.
They stayed in the water for a long time, goofing off and having fun. Pretty soon, it was time to go.
They got back to their hotel and decided to order room service for dinner since they'd been having some problems with mobbing earlier when they were in the lobby exploring. While they were eating, Mr. Hanson poked his head in the door and asked, "Does anybody need anything else? Junk food craving or anything?" Taylor, Isaac, and Lucy shook their heads but Zac jumped up and ran over to his dad. He whispered something in his ear, to which Mr. Hanson smiled and shook his head in amusement. "Please?" begged Zac. "I'll see what I can do, okay Zac?" his dad answered. Zac seemed to accept that. He sat back down and went back to eating. The other three gave him questioning looks, to which he paid no notice. Then Isaac got the movie guide and began looking through it. "Hey, Demolition Man is on pay-per-view in about 20 minutes. Anybody want to watch it?"
"Yeah!" answered Tay enthusiastically. So Ike called the front desk and asked them to charge the movie to their room. When he got off the phone, he went over and sat beside Lucy. "Hey, do you want to go outside for a while?" he asked, hoping she'd agree. "Sure." Lucy replied and she and Ike went out on the balcony to talk. As they were heading outside, she made eye contact briefly with Taylor, who gave her a penetrating stare. She forced herself to look away and she followed Ike through the sliding glass doors.
Once they were outside, Lucy walked over to the railing and enjoyed the view. 'It's so beautiful out here' she thought. The stars were out and the moon was full and shining in the sky. She felt arms go around her waist from behind and Ike rested his head on her shoulder. "It's beautiful, isn't it?" he commented, as if reading her mind. She nodded and turned to face him. He wasted no time in leaning down to kiss her. Soon the view was forgotten as their kissing grew more intense. Ike ran his fingers through Lucy's hair and began kissing her neck. Then they were interrupted by a tapping on the glass. It was Zac. He had moved the curtains ever so slightly so that he could see them and he motioned for them to come inside the room. "The movie's about to start!" he said, his voice sounding muffled because of the glass. Ike and Lucy came back in the room and sat down on the floor. Then there was a knock at the door and Taylor got up to open it. It was Mr. Hanson again. He called Zac over to the door and handed him a plastic shopping bag. "Thanks, Dad!" said Zac excitedly. He closed the door and went over to spill the contents of the bag on his bed. Ike, Tay, and Lucy watched him expectantly. He pulled out a can of Silly String, and, whipping the cap off in a flash, proceeded to spray them all with blue string. He was laughing hysterically as he got string all in Ike and Lucy's hair and all over Tay's face. The three of them ran over to the bed and grabbed the plastic bag. They pulled out 3 more cans of string and prepared to take revenge. Pretty soon the whole room was covered in Silly String and so were the guys and Lucy. Jessie and Avery opened their door (without knocking) and stood there, watching Taylor, Isaac, and Lucy pile up on poor Zac and completely cover him in the sticky string. They began giggling and ran back to their room to tell their mom what was going on.
Meanwhile, the movie began and they all settled down to watch it. Lucy noticed Taylor looking at her occasionally during the movie and she tried to ignore it, but his gaze was hard to avoid. She just hoped Ike didn't notice. They held hands throughout the movie, and when it was over, Taylor and Isaac said good-night to Lucy and Zac and went to their room. Ike gave Lucy a quick kiss and a hug and whispered, "Good-night." She smiled and said the same. Then she and Zac took turns in the bathroom (Tay and Ike went in there after them) and they went to sleep, exhausted from the long day.
The next morning, the entire Hanson family and Lucy went to the studio for the first day of filming. The morning was dedicated to finding the perfect girl of the over 200 who showed up to play Madeline. But no matter who they looked at, none of the girls seemed right for the part. Some of them were beautiful, but they just weren't what the director was looking for. "Is there anyone else who we haven't looked at yet?" asked the director. It had been a long morning and he was ready to get the filming done already. They only had the studio for three days. Just as the last possibility for Madeline was looked at and decided against, Lucy decided she needed to get some air. She'd been sitting in the studio watching them look at possible Madelines for the past 4 hours. She got up and headed over to the vending machine to go get herself a Coke. As she left and went out of earshot, the director seemed to notice her and asked Isaac, "Who is that girl right there? She is just what I'm looking for!"
Ike looked at who the director was pointing at and grinned. "That's my girlfriend, Lucy. She came to watch us shoot the video."
"Well, I want to talk to her right away. She looks like the perfect one to play Madeline!" the director exclaimed.
Isaac flinched as he realized that he hoped Lucy wasn't exactly what the director was looking for. For whoever played Madeline had to kiss Taylor as part of the job. He didn't want to watch his little brother and his girlfriend make out in front of a camera when he knew they had kissed once before. That was certainly something he did not want to witness.
When Lucy returned with her soda, the director ran up to her and looked at her critically. "Yes!!! She's exactly what I'm looking for!"
"Huh?" Lucy had no idea what was going on. She gave Ike a questioning look.
"He thinks you'd be the perfect one to play Madeline." Isaac explained to her.
